WeThePeople C.R.E.A.M. Frame

Andrew Jackson's signature frame is different. WeThePeople says this is the most advanced frame to date and I'm no engineer or even industry dude but it looks to be so. The idea is one-piece. One-piece dropouts, seat tube junction, head tube junction.

Though I was skeptical at first about welds being in the middle of the tubes where I, again not an engineer, thought they would be more vulnerable, WTP says the welds receive more stress along complex surface geometry such as where two tubes intersect.

This frame is to be released early October 2010 so keep your eyes open. Also keep up with THE BANK, Andrew Jackson's new website.

Amateur Skaters and Bikers Time to Shine on Gatorade Free Flow Tour

GRINDTV Newswire - via Alli Sports (April 26, 2010): Seeking the best amateur skaters and BMX riders across the country, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour today announced the complete schedule for the 2010 season. Hosting a total of 47 contests at 30 parks this summer, the Tour officially kicks off May 22 in Rye, N.H. at Rye Airfield. Registration for all events is now open at gatoradefreeflowtour.com.

Highlighting the 2010 Gatorade Free Flow Tour is the addition of BMX dirt to the discipline roster - a first in the Tour's six-year history. Travelling to Da Compound (Calif.), Windell's Camp (Ore.) and to Dayton, Ohio stop of the legendary DK Dirt Circuit, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour will hold three BMX dirt competitions over the course of the summer.

In another first for the amateur circuit, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour will also raise the age limit of all of its skate and BMX contests to 21.

"We are excited about the stellar park lineup for the upcoming season of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour," said Kenny Mitchell, action sports team manager for Gatorade. "And the addition of BMX dirt coupled with opening skate up to a new age range allows us to bring the 2010 Tour to a whole new group of young skaters and riders so Gatorade can continue to fuel the progression of action sports by helping identify the best amateur talent out there."

For 2010, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour will return to standout parks the Department of Skateboarding (Portland, Ore.) - who hosted the Tour in 2005-06 - and Kona Skatepark (Jacksonville, Fla.), who hosted in 2008 and produced GFFT skate park champion Timmy Knuth. Typically a skate-only park, Kona will open its doors to BMX riders for a BMX park contest on Aug. 1.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Gatorade Free Flow Tour schedule includes stops at Ecke YMCA in Encinitas, Calif. and to Petaluma, Calif.'s Ramp Ratz - the only two parks to hold that distinction. The Tour will also hold contests at top parks including Rye Airfield (fifth consecutive year), Charmcity Skatepark (Baltimore, Md., third year in a row), Incline Club (Lakewood, N.J., third year), MIA (Miami, Fla., second year), and the Epic (Rocklin, Calif., second year).

The complete 2010 Gatorade Free Flow Tour schedule* includes the following dates and locations:

BMX vs. Cars

I'd like to address all of my fellow BMX riders out there because we have seen this so many times before and luckily Ben Hucke seemed to literally just walk away from a big crash. Unfortunately, other riders wouldn't have such luck in the past. Ben is reported to be fine and I hope everything went well within that situation but I'd like to express my concern for these situations.

I ride my bike in Los Angeles all the time and I am clearly guilty of putting myself in less-than-safe situations and either if I had not stopped or if the car had not stopped something bad could have happened. So, let this video be an example to be wary of vehicles and your environment when you are riding. The good news is Ben is fine and is about to drop one hell of a web video. Atta kid!

UK Police Officers Ride BMX Bikes

I'm not sure whether to laugh at this, support it, or just plain facepalm. To make a long story (click for article) short, police officers in Leicestershire are riding BMX bikes to be more approachable to kids. However, judging from the picture below, they're also going to have to do some equipment/outfit moderation to achieve that more approachable vibe. If I saw that guy coming at me I would book it the other way. Sorry dudes.

Alfredo Mancuso on Ellen

The Ellen Degeneres Show often has guests on to display their talents. I don't follow the show but I've seen some of these clips and it's always awesome to see random people and their random talents. Alfredo, however, is not random to the BMX community. The only surprising thing is that he didn't tailwhip over those people. I wish he was given more time or obstacles because I can hop 6 people and I am not an impressive rider...

Etnies BMX Tour

Friday May 14 / 5pm: Empire (Austin, TX indoor session/demo, BBQ)
Sunday May 16 / 5pm: Quickie Mart (Tulsa, OK demo, signing)
Monday May 17 / 5pm: Plan 9 (St. Louis, MO indoor demo, signing)
Tuesday May 18 / 5pm: Dan's Comp (Florence, KY Ollie's indoor demo)
Thursday May 20 / 5pm: Modern Skate (Detroit, MI demo, signing)
Saturday May 22 / 12pm: Journey's (Cleveland, OH demo, signing)
Sunday May 23 / 1pm: Action Village (Milwaukee, WI 4 Seasons Skatepark)

I don't know if the one and only Dang Dang will be there but you can count on Aaron Ross, Corey Martinez, Brian Kachinsky, Morgan Wade, Sergio Layos, Tony Hamlin, and the absolute king of vert Jamie Bestwick.

Terrible One Wallets for Mike Aitken

Mike Aitken is back on his feet, back on his bike, and feeling good. People, however, need to remember that he still has big medical bills and even needs support for future training to get his full strength back. Same thing with Stephen Murray or any rider who has gone down in a harsh way. Remember, most riders can't get health insurance and when they go down their will being is in the lives of people like the ARF, their sponsors' donations, and donations from the people.

Emily Brindley handmade these nifty Terrible One wallets, which will go to benefit Mike Aitken and ease the medical bills. The wallets are made out of old inner tubes with cute, or graphic, stitched designs. This isn't a percentage donation or something, every dollar is going to Mikey and you'll be looking cool carrying your dollars around in a wallet that's recycled and eco-friendly, and means something to the BMX community. Couple Viddy Ohs

There are some brands that have an obvious stereotype to them such as Animal being "street" and Mirraco being "park"... well Deluxe is "trails" without a doubt and these are leftover clips that are really good.

The amateur contest put on by Vans in Orange County was filmed by Nick Haydon and though I can't give you info on the riders' names or the results or anything, I can say there's good stuff in here. Besides that dude being a douche and trying to be funny dancing and shi-...

Apparently Team Jeff DuPaul is coming back hard and this edit of Matty Long and Stevie Churchill is LETTING YOU KNOW. Get into it...

Cooper Brownlee rides for Colony. He shreds. I wish I could say more but why would I? ... At this point...

"The Birth of Big Air" with Mat Hoffman

April 24, 2010, the documentary film "The Birth of Big Air", all about Mat Hoffman and about how he made not only BMX what it is today but all action sports, will premiere in NYC at the World Financial Plaza (West Street between Vesey and Liberty). The event will start at 6 pm and the actual screening will begin at 8. I don't believe it costs money to attend, just show up early because it's obviously going to be packed and crazy and wild.

The trailer is posted below and this is obviously a MUST WATCH.
